    About The Trip
The trip, including airfare, hotels, and food, is completely free to students who meet the eligibility requirements. Students only need spend on gratuities, personal purchases, and travel or medical insurance.

Students are eligible who are Jewish, between the ages of 18-26, who have not been to Israel on a peer-group program since the age of 18 or have not participated on a program that is longer than seven days after turning 18. Those who participated on peer educational trips prior to turning 18 years of age are now welcome to apply. If you have any questions about eligibility, please reach out Shorashim.

So, who's giving me this gift?

Philanthropists, Jewish communities worldwide, and the government of Israel have partnered to launch Birthright Israel - whose goal is to provide a free first peer-group trip to Israel as a birthright for every Jew.

Thanks to Birthright Israel, thousands of Jewish college students and young adults are offered the opportunity for a free peer-group trip to Israel.

Birthright Israel is an innovative partnership between the people of Israel through the Government of Israel, private philanthropists through the Birthright Israel Foundation and Jewish communities around the world (North American Jewish Federations through the United Jewish Communities (UJC); the Jewish Agency for Israel; and Keren Hayesod).

Birthright Israel, Shorashim, and Iowa Hillel are not affiliated with a political party or religious movement.

For more information about these organizations, visit the Shorashim or Birthright Israel websites.

Already been or have friends that you want to recommend?

Share the gift and spread the love at shorashimpayitforward.com. You can even win a free trip for three back to Israel! Learn more today!
